Meet Kasih

Beneath the waves, a young anemonefish named Kasih seeks the meaning of love. As his coral reef home begins to lose its colour, his search for answers becomes a journey of courage, loss, and hope.

Kasih’s world has always been bright — the warm sway of anemone tentacles, the colours of the reef, the steady comfort of his mother nearby. But when the corals begin to pale, something inside him stirs: a need to understand what holds everything together.

Through the creatures he meets and the mysteries he witnesses, he learns that even in moments of loss, there are traces of beauty that endure. His story invites us to look more closely at the ocean, and to recognise how deeply all lives are connected.

“Reading this book filled me with a cosy, wholesome feeling as I followed Kasih’s journey. Its tender, innocent tone made it easy to relate to and empathise with Kasih. I love how the story brings attention to an urgent environmental issue in such a gentle and hopeful way, one that moves you to care and inspires action.
What Really Happened in 2024

Kasih’s adventure is based on something very real.

In 2024, coral reefs in parts of Malaysia faced a big problem called

coral bleaching

Terengganu was hit the hardest in the 2024 bleaching event. The corals endured extreme heat stress for nearly 14 weeks.

About 70% of corals bleached, and in some places, all corals turned white. Many reefs lost almost half of their corals (30–64% dead).
